This always feel like a trick when recruiters ask us to include an application letter to accompany the CV. Each application letter should be unique and designed for that vacancy your applying for. There are important things to look out for when your writing your application, letter which are:
1. Check for the reference number
2. Address the letter to Recruitment if there is no specific person
3. Introduce yourself (Do not forget to mention your qualifications) giving reasons why your applying, where you found the vacancy
4. Outline your skills including those that are on the advert ( That is if you possess the skills)
5. Detail your experience that is necessary for the vacancy, and how that experience will help you do the job
6. Always thank them for the time they take to go through your application
7. Kind Regards or Yours Sincerely will be good to close off the letter
lastly we often do not know whether its good or not to write our contact details at the end and also a signature. I f you have an electronic signature you may include it, if not then your Surname and Initials are fine. since it is an attachment to an email. include your contact details on email anyway there are already on your CV so why duplicate.
I have included a few of my application letters for you to go through as an example of what i mean. You can use this as your templates too.
Now we are good to go lets start writing those application letters.
