Useful Interview Tips

Updated: Apr 14, 2020

The best thing after you have waited for so long to get a call or an email for that long awaited job you have applied for. You put on a smile from the moment you receive the invite, now what is next.

As you start thinking on what to expect from the interview, first you have to do a research on the company, what they value, goals, vision and mission. Know the role what it does and its contribution and impact to the organisation. Put yourself in the position and find ways of improving or implementing what would move or grow the company.

Always have a positive attitude, be confident and know yourself. Personal questions are always asked to get an overview of what is on your CV, be prepared. Know your strength and weaknesses and how you can use them to your advantage in the organisation.

Work related and technical questions are always asked to test your knowledge and understanding of the role and how it contributes to the growth of the organisation. You can use your previous experience to elaborate and give examples.

When asked for questions, do not leave the interview room without asking a question, this is your chance to get clarity, as about the role anything that was not clarified. Ask when to expect feedback if not mentioned before. Ask for reporting structure if it was jot detailed in the advertisement.

Remember to always smile and drink water to calm your nerves, keep eye contact and elaborate when answering to show understanding. Do not be shy to ask for explanation of a question.
